When people are looking for potential marriage partners they are of course considering many things, does the person have a sense of humour, looks, occupation and many seek their parents approval before considering potential partners. How many people look at the family? This is something I have discussed in great detail with my friends.
Alhumduillah I am blessed with a great family. My in laws are great I get on with them and my sisters in law again they get on with me and I enjoy their company. What the family is like should be considered a great deal when choosing a spouse. After all, these will be the future grandparents and aunties and uncles of any children you may have? Also they may have children and they will be the cousins that your children grow up with. The family you marry into will have a great influence on your married life (unless they live thousands of miles away!!) You will also be spending a lot of time with the in laws and the husbands/wife's extended family. So it is essential to find out properly whether you can get on with the family or not. I have heard many stories of the mother in law who causes problems and sisters in laws are also guilty of this. So what do u do, do u say excuse me I like you very much and would consider marrying you but is your mum an interfering old lady?? To be honest I do not know the answer to this dilema. All I know is that the extended family is important and maybe when someone comes to meet you for the first time they may like you but you have to check out the family too!
